BIOGRAPHY

KOOL KOOR

Charles William Hargrove Jr. is a New York-born artist whose practice moves between painting, drawing, installation, public work and visual systems.

Kool Koor

“I am the result of countless conversations between my elders and ancestors.”

Emerging from the South Bronx in the late 1970s, Kool Koor developed a visual language shaped by architecture, geometry, symbolic notation and visionary landscapes.

Across decades of work, organic and geometric forms coexist with imagined structures, technologies and environments. The practice has expanded from drawing and painting into installations, murals, collaborations, public projects and speculative spatial systems.

Architecture remains a recurring framework: not simply as built form, but as a way of thinking about movement, consciousness, memory and parallel realities.
